Ban the use of drones for recording Police Stations

The Issue

We must protect our protectors.

This petition has been created, in hope of getting some clarification on the use of drones above and around our Police Stations.

The recording of Police Stations is increasing, becoming a widely popular viewing for many users of platforms including Youtube, Facebook and TikTok, gaining hundreds and thousands of viewers/ subscribers.

The use of drones in this manner is not only affecting the security of these locations but also the safety and security of the personnel who work there. This includes Police Officers, staff and others who attend these locations including vulnerable members of the public.

The filming of such locations is becoming increasingly difficult for Police to manage, and is wasting valuable Police time which should be spent serving the public as intended.

Police are currently struggling to manage this issue, as there is NO clear legislation on the use of drones above/ near these areas. There is no legislation which protects the security of Police Stations, vehicles or buildings.

What does the law say?

UK Drone Laws For Residential, Recreational, Commercial and Industrial Sites.

There is currently no law preventing the use of drones/ camera recording equipment over the top of Police Stations or police buildings.

The law states that you must keep a minimum distance of 150 meters away from certain types of locations, such as residential areas, recreational areas, commercial areas, and industrial sites. Police Stations however, are not listed under any of these sites.

I am creating this petition in hope that the Government respond and provide some clear guidance on this issue.

At the moment, drones are being used in an attempt to get 'likes and subscribers'. They are being used to stir up nuisance and controversy.

Action must be taken, before drones are being used to cause a serious security risks.
