Ban the use of Dogs for Pig Hunting - Fiji

Ban the use of Dogs for Pig Hunting - Fiji
The Issue
Pig hunters go to any extent in the name of hunting. They steal dogs, take them to their villages, pin them down on the ground to cut off their ear flaps with scissors (that to without any use of anaesthetics), starve them for weeks, torture them and force them into pig hunting. These stolen dogs are not only random street dogs but someone’s pet rather like a family member and these owners are eventually left in despair when their dogs go missing.
It is absolutely heart breaking and inhumane scene to see dogs being hung to a post with a rope around its body as it bleeds from its mouth and punched to stop it from screaming. The dog continues to fight for its life in pain as it struggles to be released. The struggles continue until one of the individuals have gone to purchase a chain for the dog. Moreover, such incidents have been prevalent in our country for years particularly in the Ba area where it happens frequently. There needs to be an end put to this immediately as it is a clear act of animal cruelty. These matters when reported to the authorities (Police and Ministry of Agriculture) are not taken seriously.
Henceforth, it is my humble request to the Prime Minister of Fiji, Hon. Sitiveni Rabuka to ban the use of dogs for pig hunting and put an end to this issue by implementing stringent laws for such abusive acts.
We need justice for the innocent dogs suffering in the hands of cruel individuals.
