Ban the use of cyanide bombs on animals
The Issue
The animals deserve our protection. As someone who values wildlife and the natural ecosystems that support life on Earth, I am deeply disturbed by the use of cyanide bombs, also known as M-44 devices. These devices were authorized for use during the Trump administration on public lands, indiscriminately targeting and harming native animals.
These cyanide bombs work by luring animals with bait, and upon interaction, they release a deadly dose of cyanide. This not only threatens wildlife populations, including endangered species, but also presents a danger to humans and pets who might accidentally trigger them. The use of such lethal methods undermines efforts to peacefully coexist with nature and protect vulnerable species.
According to recent statistics, more than 14,000 animals fall victim annually to these indiscriminate methods. The EPA intends to continue this practice, despite strong opposition from environmentalists, wildlife protection agencies, and concerned citizens across the nation who recognize the cruelty and environmental impact of these devices.
It's time to take action and demand a reversal of this policy. We must advocate for humane and non-lethal alternatives that effectively manage wildlife without resorting to such inhumane and archaic measures. Wildlife services should focus on innovative solutions and community-based programs that promote the coexistence of humans and wildlife.
Join me in urging the Environmental Protection Agency to immediately ban the use of cyanide bombs on public lands. Together, we can protect wildlife, safeguard our pets and communities, and honor our responsibility as stewards of the planet. Please sign this petition and help make a change for our environment and its precious inhabitants.
