Today, there are only three species of elephants alive out of the initial 160. The remaining three are quickly diminishing and are facing extinction as early as 2020 experts inform. If this occurs, it would make these majestic animals seem like a fairy tale for our grandchildren to dream about.

Limba, Canada's oldest Asian elephant and the current resident of our local zoo, is launching this petition with the assistance of Global Spectrum at the General Motors Centre and the Bowmanville Zoo to to help her friends from avoiding their quickly approaching extinction date.

Although Limba does not have tusks due to her gender, we are requesting that you support the cause to return to the full ban on the sale of ivory in China which was establish in 1989 by CITES to protect her friends in Africa and Asia that are being slaughtered daily for their tusks.

Today, there are only three species of elephants alive out of the initial 160. The remaining three are quickly diminishing and are facing extinction as early as 2020 experts inform. If this occurs, it would make these majestic animals seem like a fairy tale for our grandchildren to dream about.

Our local zoo is the current resident of Canada’s oldest Asian elephant, Limba. Although she does not have tusks due to her gender, we are requesting that you return to the full ban on the sale of ivory which was establish in 1989 by CITES to protect her friends in Africa and Asia that are being slaughtered daily for their tusks.

We run the risk of losing them forever without your help.
