The Issue

As an experienced worker in animal shelters, I've witnessed first hand the hurt that animals can endure. This pain is intensified by practices that prioritize profit over welfare, specifically, the production of foie gras. Foie gras, a 'luxury' food product, is created through an incredibly cruel process called 'gavage.' This involves force-feeding ducks and geese multiple times a day until their livers swell up to ten times their normal size. This results in a painful condition called hepatic lipidosis, causing extreme suffering for these animals.

Not only is this practice inherently cruel, it also challenges the principles of sustainable and ethical farming. In fact, the Federation of Veterinarians of Europe has publicly condemned this process, stating it to be detrimental to the welfare of these birds (FVE, 2017). Moreover, several countries including the UK, Germany, and Israel have already banned the production of Foie Gras, signifying international recognition of this animal welfare issue.

We should respect and protect all life forms, not subject them to unnecessary harm for the sake of satisfying gourmet tastes. It's time that we take a stand against such cruel practices. Help us fight against the production and sale of foie gras globally. With your support, we can mandate change and elevate animal welfare standards. Please sign this petition and let your voice be heard against the production and sale of foie gras.
