We, the undersigned, are concerned citizens of the United Kingdom writing to urge you to advocate for the banning of the activities and presence of the Bangladesh Awami League, Bangladesh Chhatra League, and Bangladesh Sheccha Sebok League within the UK due to their involvement in severe human rights violations in Bangladesh.

Summary of Atrocities:

1. Extrajudicial Killings: Reports from Human Rights Watch and Amnesty International document numerous extrajudicial killings by these groups.
2. Torture and Intimidation: Students and political opponents have faced severe torture and intimidation, including beatings and electric shocks.
3. Suppression of Free Speech: These groups have attacked journalists, shut down critical media outlets, and used laws to silence dissent.
4. Violence Against Protesters: Peaceful protests have been met with brutal force, including the use of batons, rubber bullets, and tear gas, resulting in numerous injuries and deaths.

Militant Activities:

1. Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL): Known for violent tactics against students and opponents.
2. Bangladesh Sheccha Sebok League: Involved in intimidation and violent acts against protesters.
3. Intimidation of Opponents: Opposition members face harassment, arbitrary arrests, and violent attacks, undermining political competition.
4. Crackdown on Universities: Academic freedom is stifled as the BCL violently suppresses dissent among students and faculty.

Recent Massacre of Protesting Students:
1. Massacre of 2024: In July/August 2024, a tragic massacre occurred during student protests demanding employment opportunities and fair treatment. According to some reports over 1000 students were killed in coordinated attacks by law enforcement and members of the Bangladesh Chhatra League and Sheccha Sebok League. This massacre represents one of the most severe crackdowns on peaceful protests in recent history in Bangladesh.
2. Violent Suppression of Protests: The massacre saw security forces, in collaboration with BCL members, using live ammunition, batons, and tear gas against unarmed students. Many were shot at close range, while others were beaten to death. The brutality was aimed at crushing the protest movement and instilling fear among the youth.
3. Aftermath and Repression: Following the massacre, there has been a widespread crackdown on survivors, with numerous arrests and disappearances reported. Families of the victims have been harassed, and many are too afraid to speak out.

The actions of these groups are a gross violation of human rights and democratic principles. Their continued operation in the UK undermines our commitment to justice and potentially endangers our society.
