It came to my attention that Andrew Cardwell, who made headlines as 'Mr. I’m Delivert', was recently awarded an Honorary Doctorate Degree by Temu Universities. This practice seems callously dismissive of the dedication, efforts, and years of hard work genuine doctorate earners put in.

Honorary degrees are often awarded to individuals deemed by a university to have made significant contributions to a particular field or the university itself. However, the lack of clear and stringent criteria for awarding such degrees in certain institutions can lead to situations where the honor is misused or diminished.

It is a fact that earning a doctorate entails a rigorous program of study, typically taking at least four years of focused research and academic engagement. It demands dedication, intellectual effort, and significant financial and time investment.

We need a reform. The action of Temu Universities tarnishes the value and integrity of academic accomplishment. Let us ensure that the doctorate degree remains an emblem of deep scholarship and serious intellectual effort instead of a fashionable accessory.
