Why this petition matters

Convicted terrorist leader Leila Khaled is scheduled to speak at San Francisco State University (SFSU) in a virtual webinar on April 23. The announcement comes months after platforms like Zoom and Facebook refused to host the serial terrorist. DEMAND LEILA KHALED’S EVENT BE CANCELED AGAIN.

Khaled hijacked two commercial flights with civilians on board and is a member of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP), which was designated as a terrorist group by the US State Department in 1997. PFLP terrorist attacks have killed more than 20 Americans — aside from the untold Israelis, they have murdered.

The event is being sponsored by San Francisco State University’s Arab and Muslim Ethnicities and Diaspora Studies (AMED) and will be moderated by the university’s Professor Rabab Abdulhadi, who has previously been criticized for cultivating terrorist ties, glorifying terrorists, and spreading hate against pro-Israel students. Other groups co-sponsoring the webinar include the Council of UC Faculty Associations (CUCFA) and the University of California Humanities Research Institute (UCHRI).

Shortly after Leila Khaled’s speaking engagement was announced, Facebook removed a post promoting the event. Eventbrite followed suit and removed the event from its platform for violating its terms of service. Zoom has not yet announced whether they will permit the terrorist to speak on its platform.

Zoom recently announced that they will consult with universities before taking any action on complaints about violations of its terms of service. This new policy contradicts Zoom's previous actions and puts the responsibility on university administrators to decide whether to host terrorists. Months earlier, Zoom said that Khaled’s PFLP membership violated their terms of service.

Leila Khaled has terrorized Jews for decades and continues to pose a threat to Jewish students. This kind of hatred has no place on college campuses. University administrators have a responsibility to create a safe and inclusive campus for all students. We call on SFSU and UC administrators to ban terrorists and cancel Leila Khaled’s speaking engagement. SIGN THE PETITION TO CANCEL LEILA KHALED’S EVENT.
