I am a pupil of Steyning grammar school, and recently they have enforced new school uniform rules that are absurd, and will lead to unholy punishments for something as little and not having ur shirt tucked in. Some of the punishments include detention, isolation, behaviour points, and calls home for something as insignificant as not having a blazer on in the 25 degree sun, or wearing a pair of the slightly wrong shoes, or having a fleece ontop of ur uniform on a cold winters day. The sgs moto is "Every Person the Best they Can Be" however let us show no individuality in the way we dress. If they wanted us to each be unique people they would allow our selves express who we are wether thats dying your hair or wearing your own clothes however we our imprisoned by a ridiculously uncomfortable what can only be described as a low level suit. When I'm sat in class I find it hard to concentrate when I'm boiling because I have to wear a blazer and I'm not allowed shorts and when it's cold Im not allowed to wear a coat inside.

When I asked a teacher why we have school uniform they all said the same thing "so all students look equal and there is no social higherarchy based on the clothes you wear" however the total price of the school uniform is over 130 pounds including all things like blazer shirt trousers tie shoes when I could pick out a outfit that costs less than 40 and yet hear we are wearing this atrocious school uniform so stand with me and sign this petion to put an end to the suffering
