Plastic bags are a significant source of pollution that harms the environment and ecosystems. They are not biodegradable, and when they end up in oceans and other bodies of water, they can be extremely harmful to marine life. Plastic bags are also a major source of litter in our towns, and they can cause difficulties for wildlife such as birds and animals that mistake them for food.

We can drastically minimize the quantity of plastic garbage that ends up in landfills and the environment by prohibiting single-use plastic bags. Many cities and countries around the world have already successfully implemented single-use plastic bag bans or fees. These bans have resulted in less litter, less resource use, and a cleaner environment overall.
