Thank you all again for your continued support. I’ve been fighting for years an finally the the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is recommending a ban on all such torturous devices in America - pending public feedback. We wouldn’t be here today without all of your support. I want you to know that your voices have been heard, and that Change.org has made a difference.
What we need from you: The FDA is giving just days, until May 25 at 9 p.m. PST, the opportunity for public feedback directly on the FDA website, and needs to hear your opinion on whether America should allow people with disabilities to be shocked with electronic shock devices that are not allowed on even the worst of terrorists. You can leave a comment with them here: http://1.usa.gov/1TS5jwL (read the summary then click the blue Comment Now! button).

The FDA’s proposal to ban the shock devices reports that FDA has determined that the shock devices “present an unreasonable and substantial risk of illness or injury,” that the “effects of the shock are both psychological… and physical (including pain),” that psychological and physical risks include “depression, fear, escape and avoidance behaviors, panic, aggression, substation of other behaviors…, worsening of underlying symptoms…, pain, burns, tissue damage…, posttraumatic stress or acute stress disorders, shock stress reaction, and learned helplessness.”
I am a former employee of the JRC who used and witnessed first hand these devices misused on students before coming to a realization that I was being misled to believe that these shock devices were necessary, even though JRC is the only school in America and in the world to use such devices. Many students who JRC claimed would not respond to any approach other than electric shocks have already been successfully relocated from the Judge Rotenberg Center to programs in New York where they do not use electric shocks.
I quit the JRC on my own will to begin a campaign to reveal the truth, and to protect my former students from these shock devices.
The proposed ban on the shock devices by the FDA is cause for much celebration for those who value human rights! Please spend even just two minutes to let the FDA know (in less than 5000 characters) that you support their proposed ban of the torturous electric shock devices in America.
Thank you!
Greg Miller
