Get rid of uniforms. Uniforms are restricting and uncomfortable for many students and can make some students feel conscious of their bodies instead of being focused on their learning. Uniforms are almost dystopian in the way that they aim to make every student the exact same, as if we are nothing but students. Uniforms bring more attention to students features that may be different about them such as hair or skin colour or anything else which can encourage bullying. Uniforms are ridiculously expensive and shouldnt even have to be paid for in the first place. Uniforms make learning feel like a chore and not something that should be appreciated for a life time or enjoyed which just gives students a negative perception on something that should be a positive experience. Uniforms tend to be gendered which sexualises students especially girls as well as making some lgbtq plus students feel uncomfortable. Uniforms do not add anything positive. “They improve behaviour because the students feel smarter” Really?? Do you really have to depend on some stupid clothing thats probably been unethically sourced in a country with terrible working conditions just to avoid actually sorting out students who behave badly? If you want students to actually value learning, stop putting them under such awful rules. Are uniforms used in some work places? Yes. But school ISNT work. Ignoring the messed up school system and stressful exams, School is where children are granted a privilege of education and social time they should enjoy. Students wont bully each other based on clothes and if they do its the schools problem and the parents responsibility to sort that out and raise better children, they need to stop hiding their responsibility behind these uniforms. Uniforms are absolutely ridiculous, outdated, and remove every aspect of enjoyability from being at school.Not to mention the prices are OUTRAGEOUSLY high and arent worth it at all for what they even achieve which is nothing because they only benefit teachers who want to focus more on the “image” of their school and not how well or happy the students are. They exploit parents, a rule and requirement of a school shouldnt require pay.  We must remove all uniforms and let children look however they want as long as it is appropriate.
