BAN SALES FROM PUPPY MILLS ON A NATIONAL LEVEL

BAN SALES FROM PUPPY MILLS ON A NATIONAL LEVEL
The Issue
To All CAPC Members of Congress;
BAN THE SALES FROM PUPPY MILLS ON A NATIONAL LEVEL.
Stop puppy mills: It starts with YOU.
The majority of pet stores that sell puppies are getting those dogs from puppy mills, which are dog-making factories where mother dogs spend their entire lives in cramped cages or kennels with little or no personal attention. When the mother and father dogs can no longer breed, they are discarded or killed. Due to poor sanitation and a lack of preventive veterinary care, the puppies from puppy mills are often sick.
Sadly, consumers who purchase puppies from pet stores or online without seeing a breeder's home firsthand are often unknowingly supporting this cruel industry.
Help stop this cycle of cruelty by pledging to adopt your next pet from a shelter or a rescue, Where you spend your dollars makes a difference! Take the pledge below.
This action alert is for U.S. residents. International advocates.
YOUR PLEDGE
I want to stop puppy mills.
I will do my part by:
1. Choosing not to buy my next pet from a pet store or internet site.
2. Refusing to buy supplies from a pet store or internet site that sells puppies.
3. Considering adoption first.
Shelters are facing a crisis. I am a tired, overwhelmed, exhausted and sad animal rescuer and networker. I have never experienced such an overflow of animals in all shelter systems as I have now. Due to failures at many levels to enact spay and neuter legislation and stop backyard breeding over the past several years, we now have an an explosion of dogs (especially large breed dogs) flooding the public shelter systems.
For every one dog that gets adopted or rescued, 10 more come in that same day.
WE cannot continue like this. We cannot rescue, transport, foster, adopt our way out of this shelters are over capacity and having to euthanize for space. Rescue groups are full, worn out, and running out of funds to help. We cannot continue like this.
HELP US STOP THE DAILY MURDERS OF HEALTHY DOGS.
