I am moving to ban one of the most terrible subreddits on Reddit, r/eyeblech.

The images and content displayed on this subreddit are some of the most inhuman, despicable, horrible acts to be found on the internet to date.

I hope I am not alone when I say Reddit should follow in the footsteps of countries who have already taken action to block these atrocities from their citizens.

You may say that continuing to do actions like this is over-censoring the internet, but I’d like to ask you this one fundamental question: Where does it stop? It stops here. It stops now. This is pure garbage. We need— must stop this.

The subreddit is very close to another subreddit’s name, r/eyebleach, which is a sub where users will usually post pictures of cute animals. This has caused some confusion and mis-clicks along the way, traumatizing not only me, but also many other redditors, and possibly many more in the future

My goal in this petition is to make sure this subreddit is never seen again by anybody. I firmly believe the content on the subreddit not only violates Reddit’s rules, but violates plenty of other moral and ethical standards.

If we are successful with this petition, it will be sent to Reddit in a strong, backed up attempt to make sure r/eyeblech is never seen again. 

If we lose, an outlet for some of the most repulsive content on the internet remains open to the public, a place where it never should have been in the first place.

It is important that we take a stand together against this excuse my french shit that is on Reddit. I hope you agree and want to bring about change by signing this petition and considering reaching out to Reddit to further the cause.

This is no small issue, trauma is a real, lasting impression that can affect the state of an individual’s well being in many ways.

This needs to stop. It has to stop.
