Our children are falling prey to the unregulated spread of pornography on the internet within South Africa. It's a personal issue as we've witnessed our children's mindset being adversely affected by exposure to inappropriate content, leading to potential long-term psychological damage. The internet, a tool initially developed to educate and bring people closer, has unfortunately become a platform of disgrace and debauchery, detrimental to our children's development.

Research conducted by the National Center on Sexual Exploitation (NCOSE) shows that exposure to pornography can promote sexual violence and negatively affect children's mental health. With easy access and minimal checks, young minds in our country are at risk.

Furthermore, according to a study published by the Journal of Adolescent Health, exposure to pornography may also distort young people's understanding of healthy sexual behavior and consent.

Now, it's high time we take action before more harm is done to our vulnerable youth. It is on this ground that we urge the South African government to ban pornography, introducing strict laws and enforcement procedures to protect our children and future generations from these harmful effects.
