Ban Plastic in Schools: A Step Toward a Cleaner, Greener Future!

The Issue

Students, teachers, and school staff are directly affected by plastic pollution on campus. Every day, single-use plastics—such as food packaging, straws, and water bottles pile up in classrooms, hallways, and canteens, creating unnecessary waste. These plastics often end up in landfills or waterways, contributing to pollution and harming the environment. Young people will inherit the long-term effects of plastic waste, making it essential to take action now.

If we continue using plastic at the current rate, our school will generate tons of waste that takes centuries to decompose. This not only damages the environment but also increases the risk of health hazards from plastic toxins. On the other hand, banning single-use plastics and promoting sustainable alternatives—such as reusable bottles, lunch containers, and eco-friendly packaging will significantly reduce waste and encourage responsible habits among students

With climate change and pollution worsening, we can’t afford to wait any longer. Schools are meant to educate and set an example for future generations. By banning single-use plastics now, we take an important step toward a cleaner, healthier campus and a more sustainable future. Other schools and cities have already implemented plastic bans—why shouldn’t we? Let’s make our school a leader in environmental responsibility today
