Ban Patricia (Tish) Hicks from TikTok for Online Bullying
The Issue
As a keen observer and active participant in the TikTok community, I have personally witnessed the malicious conduct of Patricia (Tish) Hicks. Despite claiming to stand against bullying, she engages daily in the cruel mocking and belittling of others based on their appearance, gender, sexuality, and mental health. Her menacing behavior has moved beyond words, manifesting in threats of physical harm and intimidation tactics such as false claims to Child Protective Services.
Bullying is recognized as a significant public health issue. The National Institute of Mental Health states that victims of bullying are at an increased risk for anxiety, depression, poor self-image, and even suicidal ideation. Further evidence from the Pew Research Center emphasizes the rampant nature of online harassment with 41% of U.S adults declaring they've personally been subjected to it. Patricia's conduct not just threatens the cordial atmosphere that ought to be maintained on social platforms, but, even more gravely, the well-being of individual users. This behavior should not be left unchecked.
I request the administration of TikTok to investigate the actions of Patricia (Tish) Hicks, hold her accountable for the harm she's brought upon users of the platform, and decidedly, remove her from it.
