Today, I went to a public pool in New Jersey, hoping to enjoy a peaceful day with my family and friends. However, what I encountered was far from relaxing. Numerous men were wearing speedos, revealing far more than what I believe is appropriate, especially around families and children. It was uncomfortable and distressing to witness, and I am compelled to take action to ensure this does not become a norm in our community spaces.

The sight of revealing swimwear can create an uncomfortable environment for families and young children. Public pools are meant to be safe and inclusive spaces where everyone can enjoy themselves without feeling uncomfortable or exposed to attire that might be deemed inappropriate. A simple solution is to enforce a dress code that maintains the decorum of public spaces.

According to various surveys, the majority of Americans, especially parents, support modest swimwear in public family spaces. In fact, numerous other states have set precedents by implementing dress codes that regulate attire in public parks and pools. New Jersey can follow in their footsteps and create an inclusive environment where families can enjoy themselves freely.

We urge the New Jersey government and local authorities to consider enforcing a ban on speedos for men at public pools. By doing so, we can ensure that our shared spaces remain welcoming and appropriate for everyone. Let us work together to maintain the family-friendly atmosphere of our community pools.
