Ban loud exhausts and racing cars from urban streets
The Issue
Living in East London has become a constant battle against noise pollution due to high-performance vehicles with excessive exhaust sounds racing down our streets. Every day, the tranquility of my neighborhood is shattered by the roaring engines and screaming exhausts of these cars. It’s a disturbance that my neighbors and I are forced to endure, despite our mounting frustration and desire for peace.
High-performance vehicles equipped with excessively loud exhaust systems not only disrupt the peace but also pose significant risks to safety and health. According to the World Health Organization, excessive noise can lead to serious health problems including stress, sleep disturbance, and even heart disease. The constant noise also affects mental well-being, reducing the quality of life for families and individuals in urban settings.
Many cities around the world are recognizing the negative impact of noise pollution and are implementing stricter regulations on vehicle noise emissions. For example, cities like Paris and Berlin have enforced noise radars to monitor and subsequently penalize vehicles exceeding noise limits. The UK government can take similar actions by imposing stricter penalties and introducing more comprehensive noise monitoring systems to deter offenders.
It's imperative to address this issue promptly and effectively. We call on local councils and national legislators to ban these loud exhaust systems and restrict high-performance vehicles from racing down urban streets. Implementing these changes will not only restore peace and quiet but also ensure the safety and health of urban residents.
Join us in advocating for a serene environment where peace is a priority over unnecessary noise. Sign this petition to demand urgent action against disruptive vehicle noise in urban areas. Your signature can help lead to a quieter and healthier community for us all. It is also necessary for Local councils to put speed ramps in every streets.
