These individuals fell into severe debt as they were coerced into buying coins for gifts to their favorite content creators, who exploited their loyalty for personal gain. This is not just an isolated incident but a growing trend that poses serious risks both financially and mentally.

The live gifting feature on TikTok allows users to purchase virtual coins with real money from their bank accounts. These coins can then be gifted during live streams, often under intense pressure from popular creators seeking financial support. In some cases, this has led users into significant debt and caused immense psychological stress.

This issue has already claimed two lives - people who felt so overwhelmed by the debt they incurred through gifting that they saw no other way out but suicide. It is unacceptable that even after these tragedies, TikTok continues to allow this exploitative practice.
