The Women's Coalition is petitioning the United Nations to officially recognize and take action to stop an International Human Rights Crisis. Women are having their children taken away from them after separation or divorce and given to controlling and abusive fathers.

There is a pattern which thousands of cases follow: poor investigations are done so there is insufficient evidence of abuse by, or unfitness of, the father; judges appoint biased professionals to place blame on the women and exonerate fathers; judges wrongly find women to be lying/alienating or mentally ill and switch custody to the father; women are given very restrictive visitation or even no contact with their children and are emotionally and financially devastated.

The overarching human/civil rights violation is gender discrimination. Because of being women, women are being deprived of due process, equal protection, liberty, safety, freedom from torture and degrading treatment, and freedom of speech. These are all enumerated in the UN Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) and more specifically in the UN Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination (CEDAW).

Official recognition by the UN that these human rights violations are epidemic will give women power. Any action taken by the UN will help stop this human rights crisis.
