Ban IXL Learning in Ascension Parish Schools

The Issue

I am a resident of Ascension Parish, and I have experienced firsthand how IXL Learning does more harm than good. It has been a struggle, more than an aid, for not just me, but also for numerous students in the community. This online learning platform, though designed to enhance learning, is falling short of this objective, causing unnecessary difficulties for students.

Research has signaled that effective learning platforms should motivate and engage students. However, IXL Learning seems to be falling short of this mark, resulting in frustrated students. A study conducted by The Learning Curve in 2020 showed that over 60% of online learning platforms were successful in enhancing student performance, while IXL Learning was not part of this successful group. It is crucial that we prioritize tools that dwell on fostering educational growth and improving student outcomes.

We have a responsibility to ensure the education system serves all learners adequately and fairly. Therefore, we are urging the Department of Education in Ascension Parish to rethink the implementation of IXL Learning in the curriculum. We plead for an examination into viable, more effective alternatives tailored to meet the diverse needs of students in our community.

We can make a difference together, and ensure that our voices are heard. Ban IXL Learning to protect our students from further struggles and embrace better learning strategies. Sign our petition today!
