Yesterday was a day with many conflicting emotions, many of us had hoped for an immediate call for ceasefire from the ICJ and when that didn’t happen it felt as if there was a big failure. And for the people stuck in Gaza and the West Bank it is.
But, for us and anyone trying to put pressure on organizations, governments and other democratic institutions to take actions against Israel, we now have a form of “leverage” we have the ICJ whom has stated that genocide is what Israel is committing and in plain sight of the world continues to do.
So yesterday I took a breath and made the decision to send an email to the people I’ve listed as in charge of the Eurovision Song Contest in this petition and I also added the police department in charge in the area where the finale is taking place (south of Sweden) as well as the Swedish special police called SÄPO.
This is what I said:
” An open letter to Eurovision Song Contest and the EBU
Eurovision Song Contest and the EBU.
Me and 20,800 petitioners really would like to know how you are gonna be able to have a safe and secure event in Malmoe that can guarantee safety for both participants, workers and audience when Israel is participating in the Eurovision finale in Malmoe?
And who is gonna pay for all the extra security the grand final will have to provide?
Swedish taxpayers? I know that when the Pope Fransisco was visiting Malmoe ONE day, taxpayers paid an extra 2,5 million.
That time it was security detail, background checks, and snipers on the roofs, every trash bin removed and extra police in place called in from all over!
Imagine having the arena for 2-3 weeks with building, rehearsal and everything around a big event like Eurovision. Is the participants gonna pay extra for Israel’s safety?
It’s a level 4 out of 5 when it comes to threats of terror in Sweden today. Guess it will reach 5 when you welcome Israel who currently is undergoing a trial for genocide against the people of Palestine, into Malmoe Arena in Sweden.
It is very sad that you choose to risk all the participants health and safety over having a genocidal state performing.

I sent this because I find it extremely, exceptionally, and childishly unreasonable of the ESC and the EBU to let ONE country, Israel, whom are undergoing an international trial for GENOCIDE, to take part in the competition and by doing that jeopardize all whom will be attending the event and reside in the area of Malmoe.
I don’t expect answers from ESC or the EBU, but maybe from the police.
Thats it from todays update. But I will continue to be tenacious and try by any civil action to make sure Israel won’t be on stage in the finale in Malmoe.
