Ban iReady

The Issue

Ever felt like the stress from a learning app is more overbearing than beneficial? That's how many students feel about iReady. While it's supposed to support our education, it appears to be doing just the opposite by stressing us out and making us overly anxious.

The essence of learning lies in understanding and growth. However, with iReady, students face grade penalties if they don't perform to an algorithm's standards, leading to unnecessary stress. It's not that students don't want to learn, but the pressure exerted by iReady penalties can be quite damaging to their mental health.

Research has shown that excessive stress and anxiety in young learners can lead to diminished academic performance, as well as adverse mental health outcomes. The National Institute of Health found that high levels of stress in students can cause both short-term and long-term psychological issues. iReady, with its rigid structure and grade penalties for non-compliance, seems to contribute significantly to this issue.

Why use a method that causes more harm than good when there are already established, stress-free educational resources available? There are countless alternatives that have been proven effective and supportive, like personalized tutoring or project-based learning, which don't compromise mental well-being while ensuring the students' academic development.

It's time schools and educational institutions re-evaluate the tools they're using to educate our kids. We shouldn't be making students feel anxious or worried about their grades due to an inflexible learning app. If students are continuously anxious or stressed, how can we expect them to thrive in their learning environments?

Join us in advocating for the removal of iReady from our educational systems. Sign this petition to call on schools and educational boards to ban iReady, and opt for more supportive and nurturing educational tools that truly prioritize students' mental health and academic growth. Together, we can ensure a healthier, more effective learning environment for all students. Sign now to make a difference!
