The Issue
Have you ever found yourself frustrated, stressed, and overwhelmed by i-Ready assignments taking over precious time and affecting your grades? I, like many students across the country, struggle with the pressures and demands this software places on our daily lives. It's more than just time-consuming; it's downright detrimental. The recurring issue is not just personal for me, as it significantly impacts my life by dragging down my performance and causing stress, but it's a shared concern with countless classmates who feel equally burdened and unsupported.
**Why i-Ready is problematic:**
1. **Time-Consuming:** The amount of time i-Ready consumes leaves students with less time to focus on homework, extracurricular activities, and essential rest. Its rigid structure does not allow students the flexibility to manage their own schedules effectively, contributing to burnout and stress.
2. **Impact on Grades:** Many students experience a drop in their grades because i-Ready's algorithmic evaluation does not consider individual learning styles or paces. This flawed assessment can lead to inaccurate academic evaluations and unfair pressure on students.
3. **Lack of Engagement:** Numerous students find i-Ready unengaging, which can demotivate even the most enthusiastic learners and hinder their natural curiosity and love for learning.
**What We Can Do:**
- **Support Alternative Learning Methods:** Encourage schools to adopt more personalized and flexible learning tools that cater to diverse learning styles and paces. This will ensure that all students can thrive in an environment that respects their individual needs.
- **Raise Awareness:** By discussing the drawbacks and limitations of i-Ready with educational boards, teachers, and parents, we can initiate systemic change that puts students' well-being and education first.
- **Call for Evaluation and Reform:** Urge educational authorities to reassess the reliance on i-Ready and consider reforming education policies to incorporate more effective, engaging, and supportive learning technologies.
Taking the time to sign this petition is a step towards transforming the educational experiences of students across the U.S. Let's make our voices heard and push for an educational system that values individual growth and real learning over standardized algorithms. Sign this petition to help ban i-Ready from schools nationwide and advocate for a change that prioritizes students’ well-being and academic success.
