Ban I-Ready from schools

Ban I-Ready from schools
The Issue
They want to replace our beloved reading classes with I-Ready, and it's just NOT okay with me and my schoolmates! Reading classes have been an integral part of our education. They help us develop critical thinking, improve our vocabulary, and foster a love for literature. Replacing them with a program like I-Ready will rob us of these invaluable experiences and could potentially affect our academic growth.
I-Ready, while it may have its merits as a supplementary tool, should not take the place of direct and enriching interactions with our teachers. The program lacks the personalization and engagement that a real, live teacher can provide. It's important to have discussions around the stories we read, learn from each other's perspectives, and have the guidance of a teacher who can tailor the learning experience to each student.
Studies have shown that overreliance on computerized learning platforms can detract from a well-rounded education. According to a report from the National Education Association, students perform better in classrooms where there is direct teacher involvement compared to those relying heavily on computer programs for learning. If we allow I-Ready to replace reading classes, we're setting a concerning precedent for future educational practices.
Moreover, many students find I-Ready frustrating and demotivating. It turns a subject that should be engaging and exciting into a repetitive and boring task. This can lead to decreased motivation and interest in reading, which is counterproductive to our educational goals.
Let's preserve the human element in our education by keeping our reading classes intact. Join us in telling our school administrators that we value our traditional, teacher-led reading classes and believe they are essential to our education and personal growth.
Please sign this petition to keep our education engaging, personalized, and effective. Help us ensure that our learning remains in the hands of capable, inspiring teachers and not automated software.
