Ban I-Ready from Miami-Dade Schools!

Ban I-Ready from Miami-Dade Schools!
The Issue
I have spent hours on I-Ready, struggling to pass my weekly lessons. The constant pressure to perform and meet sometimes unrealistic targets is not just overwhelming, but is detrimental to my mental health and well-being. Sadly, I am not alone; many students across Miami-Dade County find themselves in a similar predicament, facing undue stress from a system that is supposed to foster learning and development.
I-Ready, a tool intended to aid learning, has instead created a stressful and unhealthy educational environment. According to research, students often experience heightened stress and anxiety due to the daunting and repetitive nature of the tasks involved in this platform. Studies have shown that excessive academic stress can lead to anxiety, depression, and other serious health issues.
The American Psychological Association reports that academic pressure is a significant source of stress for students in the United States. In our specific case, the pressure from I-Ready is profound, making students dread their learning experience instead of opening their minds to new knowledge.
Moreover, there have been countless reports of students struggling to keep up with the demanding tasks I-Ready imposes. Not to mention, several teachers have voiced concerns that I-Ready does not accurately reflect a student's understanding, but rather measures their perseverance through endless, tedious exercises.
Miami-Dade Schools need to re-evaluate the tools they employ for student education. We should be considering educational tools that inspire creativity and curiosity, and which adapt to the diverse learning styles of students rather than enforcing a one-size-fits-all approach.
By banning I-Ready, we can take a significant step towards a more compassionate and effective education system that prioritizes student well-being and genuine learning.
Sign this petition to urge the Miami-Dade School Board to consider the impact of I-Ready on its students and eliminate it from our schools. Let's advocate for a supportive learning environment where every student has the opportunity to thrive.
