We are students, teachers, and, members of the Marymount Manhattan College community. Since the swearing-in of this new administration, I.C.E. has been empowered to deport as many immigrants as possible. Across the city, Columbia has felt shock waves as protests erupt over the illegal kidnapping of Mahmoud Khalil by the U.S. government. Columbia has let I.C.E. onto its campus which is a danger to students and provides an unsafe learning environment.

The people who have signed this petition are asking the administration and security to make a statement in favor of Mr.Khalil and to declare Marymount Manhattan and, the dorms that students live in, as I.C.E. free spaces. By not allowing them into the buildings or onto campus it will make the school safer for immigrant students as well as students of color. Although there has been no statement by the school in favor of the current president's actions, silence, and neutrality are violent. By not taking a side or not speaking up, you will quietly join the side of the repressor. You have the responsibility to protect you’re students, so please consider our suggestions.
