Ban Hookah Lounge's Open Late night hours Seattle, Washington due to increase gun violence
The Issue
In recent years, Seattle has witnessed a distressing series of violent incidents associated with hookah lounges that have deeply affected our community. In August 2023, a mass shooting at the Rainier Hookah Lounge resulted in the loss of three lives and left six others injured. This horrific event was a turning point for many, underscoring the potential dangers these establishments pose.
The violence didn't stop there. In December 2024, another shooting outside a hookah lounge in the Chinatown–International District, left five people injured. Fast forward to February 2025, a brawl outside a hookah lounge in Rainier Valley led to a man being seriously injured. These incidents are not isolated; they represent a growing pattern of violence tied to hookah bars in Seattle.
Further highlighting this concern, in March 2025, the Capri Hookah Lounge was involved in a double-fatal shooting that city reports explicitly linked to nightlife violence. Additionally, the Evangadi Hookah Lounge has been mentioned multiple times in connection with similar incidents.
The most recent Seattle incident connected to a hookah lounge happened early Saturday morning, May 9–10, 2026.
"According to investigators, 25-year-old Quusaa “Q” Margarsa was fatally shot inside The Growler Guys after meeting two people earlier that night at a nearby hookah lounge on Aurora Avenue. Police say the group later returned to the bar after hours, where an argument broke out and Margarsa was shot multiple times."
The escalation of violence at and around hookah bars poses a significant threat to public safety and the well-being of our neighborhoods. It's time for us as a community to come together and urge the city of Seattle to take decisive action by implementing a ban on hookah bars.
By banning these establishments, we can prevent further tragedies and work towards a safer, more peaceful city for all. Let us advocate for change and protect our community from further harm.
Please join in signing this petition if you want to see a change in your community and to persuade local authorities to ban hookah lounges in Seattle, ensuring a safer environment for everyone.
