The Issue

I am a student, and like many others in my school, I feel watched. Our privacy is being compromised by the use of Hapara in our educational system. Hapara is an online tool used by schools to monitor students' online activities during school hours. While it's intended to ensure a safe and productive learning environment, it has raised serious concerns about student privacy.

The right to privacy is fundamental and should not be compromised even in an educational setting. According to the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), students do not shed their constitutional rights at the schoolhouse gate (Tinker v. Des Moines Independent Community School District).

Moreover, research has shown that constant surveillance can lead to increased stress and anxiety among students (Journal of Adolescent Health). This could potentially hinder their ability to learn effectively.

We understand that schools have a responsibility towards ensuring a safe learning environment for all students; however, there must be other ways of achieving this without infringing on our right to privacy.

We call on all schools using Hapara or similar tools for monitoring student activity online during school hours - respect our right to privacy! Stop using these invasive tools now! Please sign this petition if you believe in protecting student privacy rights too.
