We call on the UK Government to review and update current slaughter regulations to ensure that all animals are afforded the highest possible welfare standards at the point of death, without exception.

Modern veterinary science and animal welfare guidance strongly support methods that minimise pain and distress, such as effective pre-stunning before slaughter. However, current legislation allows exemptions for certain religious slaughter practices where animals may not be stunned prior to killing.

We believe that in a modern society committed to animal welfare, all animals should be protected equally under the law, and no exemptions, we are in Britain.
