Generative AI is a problem that has now crept into almost every aspect of daily life. The posts on your social media feed, the advertisements you’re bombarded by, and even the music on official streaming services like Spotify and Apple Music. This is a problem because generative AI creates soulless, lifeless, and meaningless art that is designed to undercut real art made by humans to avoid paying real artists.

Generative AI is a learning model designed to learn to emulate copyrighted work without the artists permission meaning that through this immoral practice generative AI will only get better and more harmful to society. The WHSAA should care not only for the artists but the other fields that generative AI is attempting to defile. This includes journalism,  theatre, music, fine arts, and speech and debate. All of which are activities overseen by the WHSAA. And that’s only currently given the immense amount of money and research going into this field in the future it could threaten other aspects of human livelihood.

Which is why it is important to act now. Generative AI is in its relative infancy as of now but it has made great strides in the short time it’s been around. Right now it’s easy to see and identify but very soon it may be too difficult to tell. Meaning that these issues impacting society will be way harder. Help us to address this problem by banning it from school activities in Wyoming. Death to article intelligence!
