Ban Fireworks in Garden Grove, CA for Safe and Peaceful Neighborhoods
The Issue
Like many of you, I reside in the city of Garden Grove, CA, where, unfortunately, it isn't uncommon to hear the deafening cracks of fireworks throughout the year. Our city turns into a war-zone, unsettling our peace not only on the Fourth of July, but frequently during the rest of the year as well.
Having to live amidst such frequent disruption and chaos is not only distressing, but it becomes a matter of safety and respect for fellow city residents. Not everyone enjoys the thrill of fireworks, and for some - including our elderly, veterans, babies, sick people, and pets - the recurrent loud noises may cause extreme distress and anxiety. It's high time we consider the effects of our actions on these vulnerable groups.
Statistics indicate that thousands of people are injured from fireworks every year, with 15,600 reported incidents in 2020 alone, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission's annual report. In addition, fireworks trigger numerous fires each year, posing a risk to our environment and our homes, as reported by National Fire Protection Association.
By imposing a ban on the use of fireworks in our city, we will create a safer and more peaceful environment for all residents. We urge the city authorities of Garden Grove, CA, to listen to our concerns and take immediate actions. Your signature can make a difference. Please, sign this petition to make Garden Grove a more peaceful and better place to live. Together, we can ensure that everyone's right to harmony is respected and maintained.
