Ban EVLO from trading in the United Kingdom

The Issue

As someone who fell victim to predatory lending practices, I am sharing my personal story with EVLO—a lender that lured me into a loan with terms I couldn't afford due to a lack of transparency in their communication. Two years into paying exorbitant interest rates, I discovered the staggering 252.7% APR I had unwittingly signed up for. Throughout this ordeal, I repeatedly sought necessary communication adjustments to accommodate my disability but was met with indifference and non-compliance from EVLO. Despite escalating my complaint and providing evidence to the ombudsman, the company continued its unethical practices unabated.

My experience is not isolated. EVLO's predatory lending practices disproportionately impact vulnerable individuals, particularly those with disabilities, who may not have access to clear or accessible communication. They exploit these vulnerabilities, trapping countless individuals in cycles of debt they cannot escape from. Such businesses undermine the spirit of fairness and equality that British laws strive to protect, especially concerning disability rights.

Financial organizations, like EVLO, which fail to offer transparent terms should not be permitted to operate without stringent checks, particularly when they exploit vulnerable populations. The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) and UK's government must take immediate action to ban EVLO from trading within our borders. This company must be held accountable for failing to meet the legal and ethical standards expected in the UK financial sector.

To create a just and inclusive society, we urgently need strengthened regulations and penalty mechanisms against companies that violate consumer protection laws, especially those affecting disabled customers. The precedent we set in banning offenders like EVLO is crucial for preventing further injustice.

Join me in taking a stand for equitable financial practices. Sign this petition to urge the FCA and the UK government to ban EVLO from trading in the United Kingdom and protect vulnerable communities from falling prey to exploitative lending practices. Together, we can make the financial market a safer and more accessible place for all.
