Ban E-Bikes on the Transport for London network until safety measures are implemented
The Issue
Sofia Duarte, a beloved member of our community and the world to her family and us friends, tragically lost her life in a fire on New Year's Day 2023. She was visiting her boyfriend when an e-bike, blocking the sole exit, resulted in a rapid-fire spread that trapped her. Despite the survival of five others, Sofia didn't make it out of that inferno. Since that horrific day, her mother Maria and I have pledged to prevent such heartbreaking incidents from occurring again.
We address this appeal to Transport for London, requesting a stringent review of e-bike usage on its public transport network. We recognise the importance of sustainable transport options, but not at the cost of endangering lives.
It's time for stricter regulations to ensure the safe use and parking of these vehicles. Our mission is not to eradicate e-bikes, but to promote safety measures that protects everyone.
Join us in calling for Transport for London to ban all e-bikes until further safety measures are implemented.
An e-bike exploded in Sutton station platform this year.
How catastrophic it could have been if it had exploded inside the train for commuters and staff.
An E-bike has the same level of energy as 6 hand grenades.
E-scooters and Uni-cycles are banned underground. Why not E-bikes?
Help us honour Sofia's memory and ensure that no other person has to pay the price for a fatal lack of regulation surrounding e-bikes usage.
IN LOVING MEMORY OF THE FATALITIES CAUSED BY E-BIKES FIRES...
