Ban Driven Grouse Shooting in England to help prevent Raptor Persecution

The Issue

Birds of Prey organisations, along with many other charities, authors and conservationists, believe that the growing number of persecution incidents, and widespread public outrage at the senseless killing of our charismatic birds, demands a ban on driven grouse shooting.

Evidence, collected over many years, suggests that an end to driven grouse shooting would lead to a significant reduction in raptor persecution, along with many other environmental benefits. This includes the  impact on valuable peatland carbon storage. Other wildlife, e g. stoats, corvids, including protected ravens, and foxes, is ruthlessly exterminated to protect grouse stocks using snares, traps, lamping, which is legal but should follow strict protocols, and dangerous poisons.

Although there have been several other similar petitions to ban driven grouse shooting, we have to keep pushing the narrative to keep it at the forefront of our politicians agenda and in time, hopefully, they will realise that this isn't going to go away. We owe it to our wonderful birds of prey.
