I am writing this petition to ban chatib.us, an online and anomynous chat room that requires no registration to use. The number of despicable things that occur on this website is simply appalling.

Disguised as a 14 year old girl (bypassing the under18 age restriction by attaching it onto my username), I went on chatib.us with the persona of a young, unaware teen, seeking no malicious intentions. Seconds later, I was bombarded with tons of inappropriate requests and messages, the majority of which referred to my young age. Probaby all the people I was talking to were pursuing inappropriate objectives. (Keep in mind I clarified multiple times throughout the chats that I was 14, and still I recieved these messages!)

The presence of anonymity and easy access to chatib.us formulate the perfect breeding ground for predators to thrive by harming unaware minors. The lack of precautions to ensure safety for individuals on this website is deeply concerning. On the home page when you first try to create an account, there is no information whatsover on how to be safe. The online chat tips on the side have nothing to do with digital safety, but rather about how to establish conversations with other people. The ease of access to this website is also another profound issue. Age and email verification is not necessary, enabling people to type whatever they want without receiving any reprecussions. Minors can have this website readily available at the hand of their cellphones.

As technology use is increasingly becoming a more prominent aspect of our lives, the number of anonymous chat rooms like these is also rapidly increasing and becoming easier to find. We must take immediate action to ban chatib.us (and other websites like it), as they are filled with predators who will detriment the lives of minors. At least, the smallest step we can take is adding necessary safety information to the home pages of these websites and implement some sort of verification system. This may seem like an unattainble goal, but with you, we just might have a chance to make this happen. So, please sign this petition! Thank you so much! :)
