Ban Animal-Tested Cosmetics in Massachusetts.

The Issue

Growing up in Massachusetts I was always surrounded by nature and wild animals. Because of this, animals have always had my full respect, and I can't imagine why anyone would want to hurt one of them. If you share similar beliefs, I would love for you to join my fight to ban the sale of animal-tested cosmetics.

Many of the largest cosmetics brands, including but not limited to Estee Lauter, Aveeno, Benefit, and Clinique all use animal testing. Yes, animal testing is cruel, but it’s also very unnecessary. There are many cruelty-free testing options, yet many brands still test on animals. According to the Humane Society, more than 100,000 animals die every year due to animal testing. These tests are very painful, and should not be performed. One of the many alternatives to animal testing is to use isolated cells as opposed to a live animal. This test has proven to be safe, and effective, but many brands still test on animals, Why? Many brands test new ingredients, but this is also obsolete because there are millions of ingredients that brands can use to create new and creative products.

California, Hawaii, Illinois, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Oregon and Virginia have all passed laws banning the sale of products that have been tested on animals, but Massachusetts hasn’t. We have always been a leader when it comes to passing progressive policies, so I am urging MA stste officials to put an end to the sale of animal cruel products.
