Ban all social media globally

The issue

I want to share my story of why I believe it's time to ban all social media globally. Once upon a time, I, like many others, found myself immersed in the world of social media. I engaged happily within the cozy confines of my digital community, my own little bubble where everything felt simple, familiar, and often joyous. However, this bubble burst when social media transformed into a battleground of disagreement and disdain.

In particular, my heart dropped when a character I cherished was altered beyond recognition—an icon of my childhood, reimagined not as the boy I grew up idolizing, but as someone entirely different. This was more than a simple rebranding or character development. It felt like a personal loss, and when I voiced my discomfort, I was met not with understanding but with harsh criticism. Those who once stood with me, turned against me, labeling my thoughts as something they're not, leaving me feeling isolated and misunderstood.

Social media platforms, when introduced in the mid-2000s, were meant to connect us, enrich our lives, and bring the stars closer than ever via our screens—allowing us to share moments and thoughts as never before. Yet, what once was novelty has become a source of as much pain as connection. Cyberbullying, shaming, and glorifying negative situations have unfortunately dominated this digital landscape. It's a place where opinions divide, an arena where misinterpretations and hasty judgments foster deep hurt, sometimes leading to the severest tragedies. Plus it led to screen addiction, causing people to waste their life, many will eventually die with regret that they didn't live to the fullest and just spent their time ranting and raving online

Such platforms have unintentionally inflamed situations, turning them into infernos. People, hurt by names flung in the heat of digital battles, have at times felt their world become so dark that they saw no other option but to dim it entirely. It is a tragic reality that some lost souls believed they were truly alone, silenced by the avalanche of online scrutiny.

My heart aches not just for my own transformation but for all who have experienced the biting side of social media. Imagine a world devoid of this amplifying negativity—where celebs shared their stories on television and magazines, providing updates for those who sought them without the added burden of viral judgment.

My homeland , Australia already took the first step banning it for kids under 16. That's not enough, many adults like me are also vulnerable

I am not alone in my belief that it is time to reshape our future, to create a nurturing environment that protects the vulnerable from the distortions of online platforms. Let us return to simplicity—a platform-free society where we can embrace genuine human interactions, unhindered by the digital brushfires that too often rage out of control.

Join me to make significant changes for a kinder, more peaceful world. Let's build a future devoid of social media where our conversations reflect understanding, kindness, and true character. Please sign this petition to ban social media globally and protect future generations from the pain many of us have known.

This Ban will Include Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, X, Blusky, Tumblr (the one that hurt me the most) Snapchat, Tiktok and basically anything that you could call a "social"
