Every year millions of snakes, lizards, crocodiles and alligators are farmed or hunted and killed for their skins - to be used for footware, clothing, belts and countless other fashion accessories.

This doesn't get the press that the fur trade receives, as reptiles aren't considered 'cute' and many people ignorantly fear them without any experience of what amazing creatures they are.

Reptiles are amongst the most magnificent animals on the planet, and the largely unchecked and often cruel slaughter and sale of these amazing animals has to stop.

Snake are often skinned alive or crudely beheaded skinned. Because of snake's very low metabolism, their heads can remain alive for hours, sometimes a full day after they have been beheaded - only actually dying when the temperature drops at night.

Another common practice is to pump huge amounts of water into the snake's stomach, and then hang them up on hooks through their jaw - this is to stretch the skin out making it easier to remove when the snake is beheaded.

The snakes are alive though all of this unimaginable pain, fear and cruelty.

There is NO living creature that should be killed, skinned and turned into a belt or a handbag - think about how wrong this entire concept and industry is, beautiful animals being killed and skinned because somewhere someone thinks the pattern will look good on them - there are plenty of alternatives to actual reptile skin too.

Please think about this and if you agree that it's wrong and we should stopped any and all reptile skin products being sold in the UK (hopefuly the World one day), then please sign.

We need 100,000 signatures to get this put before the Government, so please forward, retweet and share this signature with as many of your friends and family as you can.

Thank you so much for your support.
