Recently we were made aware that Governor Daniel Smith plans to construct a Giant Parasitic Data Center just north of the Edmonton Area all to the benefit of Meta AI.   Data Centers like these are but a symbol of the rot and corruption that has taken hold of both our government and the U.S.! Data centers like these do nothing but allow the ultra rich to attain a strangle hold on our resources and institutions. And, what do we get, we get unthinkable permanent spikes in our utility bills across the board, as Data Center use massive amounts of gas, water, and electricity in order to operate 24 hours a day just so they can pump out more pollution than our whole city does  in it's entirety.

This unthinkable cost can, and will be put onto those who stand to gain nothing, and loose everything from this deal. In a time when so many are struggling, more and more every month, can we truly trust their empty promises when elsewhere time and time again they are to be not only a net negative, but is in fact the cause for so much of this struggle. Injustice such as this can move no further lest it devastate the lives every single Edmontonian, and those in the surrounding cities. We as citizens simply can not let this atrocity stand, not here, not in our city, the city of Champions.
