Change the ticketing and parking passes to cover all Ball State Students

Change the ticketing and parking passes to cover all Ball State Students
The Issue
Every year Ball State University makes an upwards of $500,000 on parking tickets alone according to The Ball State Daily. This statistic is not only shocking, but ridiculous. Ball State Parking services states that they use all of the revenue they gain by ticketing for the upkeep of the parking lots and garages, and also to maintain the Ball State Shuttle Bus services. However, in addition to this alarming number, Ball State University charges up to $300 for one semester of parking. It has been proven that regardless of having a parking pass, Ball State has oversold it's green commuter lots by 205%, so parking pass or no parking pass, no one is guaranteed a safe stress free place to park on Ball State Campus. It is obvious that something needs to be done. So this is what we propose, instead of requiring Ball State Students to deal with the hassles of tickets, if they can pay their tickets in order to graduate or view their student records, and the uncertainty of where to park and if they will be ticketed, booted or towed, lets offer a better solution. Instead of requiring anyone who wants to park on Ball State to purchase an overpriced parking pass that doesn't guarantee a parking space, let's charge all Ball state students a small fee, only adding $75 dollars a semester for the first ten year, and decreasing the fee more as more parking garages are created and paid off. This fee would be added to ALL Ball State University students, graduate and undergraduate, and would allow any Ball State Student whose car is properly registered with the University to park anywhere on campus with no worry of spot, citation, or problem. This solution will provide a small surplus of money, no including visitor parking which will still be charged, to allow Ball State University to create more parking spaces, and begin renovations to make more, and bigger, parking garages. Here is a solution students of Ball State, let's band together and show that it's time for a change!
