We, the students of Kern County, California, want change in our schools. We want to actually be taught rather be told to memorize school subjects. We want life lessons taught to us, something that would help us in the future; like how to write out a check, prepare for the future, etc. We also want to be taught with better standards rather than watching an online video and taking notes down. We need more than just videos. We need more visual representation! We ask for more teaching on subjects rather than being taught how to have a good memory. We also want easier expectations as we are all experiencing a time of crisis, and it affects us all. More students are mentally drained everyday as the grades update and they see their hard work flushed down. All we ask is for a better approach to education, and teach us rather than expecting us to remember something of little use. Without the help, more students will fail and fell useless. Is school supposed to “teach” us how to be angry and discouraged? That is how we feel! We want change!
