Petition for Harsher Laws and Penalties for Dog Fighters and Abusers in Georgia
0 have signed. Let’s get to 7,500!
We are concerned citizens living in Southwest Georgia. We are appalled at the rampant abuse, neglect, and mistreatment of animals in our area, as well as statewide.
We realize there are laws on the books for punishing abusers and those who participate in dog fighting, but these laws need to go further. Dog fighters are currently only prosecuted when caught in the act of fighting the animals. We believe that when it is apparent animals are being trained to fight, i.e. chains, electrical wiring attached to treadmills, presence of break sticks and spring poles, etc., the animal owner/trainer should be prosecuted too.
Laws are also needed to be written prosecuting those who abandon, chain, and neglect their pets. It would be beneficial to see a statewide registry established, naming all persons convicted of dog fighting and animal abuse.
We sincerely appreciate your attention to this matter. We urge you to continue to work hard to represent all concerned citizens in your district and state.
