Petition Closed

On June 15, 2010 police were called to a hospital in Arizona for a 4 week old infant that showed signs of severe abuse and was dying. He had a broken femur, bruises , his eyes were swollen shut, he had signs of shaken baby syndrome. He was dehydrated and malnourished. He was brutally raped. Later that day Staci Barbosa and Jonathan Vandergrifff were arrested and charged with 4 counts:charged with first-degree murder, child abuse by domestic violence, sexual assault of a minor under the age of 15 and sexual conduct with a minor under the
age of 15 . The death penalty was put on the table for Jonathan and then dropped because of state expenses????? Staci Barbosa has pleaded 2cd degree murder and will face a max of only 20 years, the murder charges still stand for Jonathan which would mean life in prison with or without possibility of parole after 30 years. If the death penalty if off the table, then we need to come together and sign this petition to make sure that Staci spends the minimal 20 years and no parole and Jonathan never see the outside world again. He is a threat to children and always will be This is still not enough for little Matthew and what he went through, but we cannot let the justice system let him down anymore.

Letter to
Mohave County Superior Court
This petition was created to help bring justice for baby Matthew Vandergriff. At 5 weeks old it is unimaginable the pain and suffering that he went through by the people who were supposed to love and protect him. His needs were so basic and were instead met with extreme sadistic violence. Jonathan Vandergriff has a prior criminal record which includes violence against children and society needs to be protected .
Stacy Barbosa has already admitted her guilt and deserves to be punished to the fullest extent. If 20 years is the most she can get thenwe speaking as Matthews voice request the maximum penalty. It would never be enough for her ignoring her sons tormenting screams and cries of pain and not doing anything to save him.
We the undersigned ask the Mohave Superior Court for the maximum sentence for both of these individuals.
