Since the Privatization of the Power Holding Company of Nigeria, Nigerians have only been held captive and subject to the incessant increase in electricity tariff without corresponding increase in electricity supply.The privatization process also did not put into cognizance the democratic right of every Nigerian to decide which DISCO he or she would prefer to patronize and a proper complaint mechanism for the resolution of dispute. The result is that the DISCOs and their staff have taken the place of god and constantly provided fictitious and frivolous tariff systems and bills that are intended to compel the consumer to stick to the use of non metered accounts because they insist that for a customer to transfer to the CAPMI meter scheme, such a customer must pay all the fraudulent sums that have accumulated over the years of estimated power supply without energy audit.No right thinking or properly functioning business would allow the public owe them so much money without sending a resolution team. In this regard, I hereby petition the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, National Assembly, NERC, Consumer Protection Council and the Federal Ministry of Power to Immediately bring a halt to this fraudulent practices by instant and outright cancellation of estimated electricity billing. Personally, I have been a victim of this fraudulent practice for a long while with the EKEDC who have till date not produced evidence of my energy audit report used to estimate my electricity consumption. My request for this document has been pending before the HOD Customer Cake, EKEDC since August 21, 2015.
