Bring back the barber apprenticeship program in Indiana.

The Issue

Apprenticeship Program

Currently Indiana does not have an apprenticeship program for Barbering or Cosmetology.

The only way someone can get a license in the State of Indiana is to go to school. Which there are only 8 in the state to choose from for barbering.

The closest school to South Bend is a couple hours away in either direction. Average cost in Indiana to go to school is $18,000 and it takes 1500 hours to complete school.

It’s a huge investment and takes an average of a year and half to complete school. Most people don’t have $18,000 laying around so they take student loans out or work full time to pay for school. Which will push back their graduation date.

Bringing back the apprenticeship program will allow individuals to immediately fill the needs of shops around the state.
