YOU DON'T HAVE TO BE MIDDLE EASTERN TO SIGN THIS PETITION OR ATTEND THE CLUB! That's the beauty of it...

My name is Angela Setrakian, and I will be a sophomore here at APU this next semester.
I am an Armenian Arab (half Lebanese and half Iraqi, but my ancestors were Armenian) and I have noticed that, while we do have an Armenian Student Association, we do not have an Arab student organization for the Middle Eastern students attending Azusa Pacific University.

As a sophomore, I want to have the opportunity to create an organization for every Middle Eastern student currently at APU, as well as for future generations, so that they will not miss out on the feeling of community. I would genuinely like to begin one so that the Middle Eastern students of Azusa Pacific University may actually be recognized and represented; I would like to raise awareness to the problems happening in the Middle East and have fundraisers and events to educate and enlighten others so that we can all create change. APU is all about leadership, and I believe that this is a great way for students, not just Middle Easterns, but of all ethnicities, to dive into our culture and understand that there is more to us than what the media sees. I truly feel that there is a lack of representation of our Arab students here at APU, and I would very much like to make that change. 

I want to have fundraisers and events where we can raise awareness to the escalating issues in the Middle East. How are people going to know that change needs to happen over there if we don't teach them what's happening?

The money that we raise will go to organizations that protect the children and families in these countries while providing them food!!
