Richard Norden is an Aussie hero who served within the ranks of the Australian Army in Vietnam for 3 years. His bravery, commitment, and selflessness led the Defence Honours and Awards Appeals Tribunal to officially recommend him for the Victoria Cross on July 20, 2022. Despite this, Richard Norden remains without his well-deserved honour due to the inaction of the current Albanese Government and specifically Defence Minister Richard Marles, for reasons undisclosed. The Victoria Cross is the highest and most prestigious award in the Australian honours system. It is bestowed for valour, courage, or self-sacrifice in the face of extreme danger. It is not an honour anyone can claim lightly, nor is it one that should be withheld from those deemed worthy. We request the support of all Australians and the international community to exert pressure on the Defence Ministry to ensure Richard Norden receives his Victoria Cross as it has been long due. Please, let’s accord him the honour he risked his life for and join in signing this petition. Demand that the Australian Government present him with the Victoria Cross. Our nation's heroes deserve no less.

Richard was 24 years of age when he died on duty with the A.C.T Police in 1972.

Time for Defence Minister Richard Marles to do his job. Australia has been waiting for over half a century for Richard to be recognised as one of our finest men.
