Award the Nobel Peace Prize to the Citizens of Minneapolis, Minnesota
The Issue
To: The Distinguished Members of the Norwegian Nobel Committee
Subject: Petition for the Award of the Nobel Peace Prize to the Citizens of Minneapolis, Minnesota
Dear Members of the Committee:
We, the undersigned, respectfully petition the Norwegian Nobel Committee to award the Nobel Peace Prize to the citizens of Minneapolis, Minnesota in recognition of their extraordinary commitment to peace, human dignity, and nonviolent civic action.
In a time marked by fear, division, and conflict, the people of Minneapolis have demonstrated a profound and sustained dedication to the principles that Alfred Nobel envisioned when he established this prize. Faced with tension and uncertainty, they have responded not with violence or retreat but with peaceful protest, mutual aid, and moral courage.
Citizens from all walks of life—workers, students, faith leaders, families, and neighbors—have come together in a remarkable display of solidarity. Through nonviolent demonstrations, they have affirmed the fundamental human rights of their community members. Through acts of compassion—providing food, shelter, financial assistance, and protection for vulnerable populations—they have embodied the highest ideals of humanitarian concern.
Their actions have not only strengthened their own community but have also inspired observers across the United States and around the world. In choosing peace over fear and unity over division, the people of Minneapolis have shown that nonviolence remains a powerful and transformative force in modern society.
The Nobel Peace Prize has long honored individuals and organizations who advance reconciliation, justice, and the reduction of conflict. The citizens of Minneapolis represent these values collectively and at scale. Their example demonstrates that peace is not merely the absence of conflict but the active presence of justice, compassion, and shared humanity.
We therefore urge the Committee to recognize the citizens of Minneapolis as deserving recipients of the Nobel Peace Prize, and in doing so, to affirm the enduring power of peaceful civic engagement in shaping a more just and harmonious world.
